Module 3

Exploring the ideas of self reflexivity and representation by testing different ways of collecting digital data of selfies. Discovering technologies such as facial tracking and capturing models of physical subjects. During the process of experimenting the 3D scanning and printing, I knew about useful applications named Scaniverse and Meshmixer, while getting an advanced practice of Cinema 4D.

Activity 1

I followed one of the given link - How to draw your own selfie using your personal data and finished this sketch. I didn't know why I couldn't export layers as the size of frame but the size of each layer, so I chose to process them in Procreate. Putting PNGs of each layers into the code. Probably because of its color and smooth surface, I lost some back details when scanning it at the first time. Reflexive Workshop 1 & 2

I sit at my desk and look at myself in the mirror every morning. This is an activity that provides a chance to reflect on my daily behaviors and think about my impact on the team. These actions at random moments can improve self-awareness unconsciously. I took the test in the article we are giving this presentation about, and my sequence for the 4 elements is: Social, detailed, people, and action. They are not four separate areas but overlap. For each individual, the overlapping area of each region varies. I have also done other personality tests such as MBTI test and Jung 8-dimensional test. Such tests help you better understand yourself and provide a chance for colleagues to get to know you. My friends and I are getting feedback from each other in order to get familiar with different personalities and communicate in multiple ways. Everyone is a unique individual, therefore it is important to understand what and how our peers think in the process of working together.

Project 3

Final Project 3 Design

I printed my 3D scanned objects and my 3D self-portrait. I chose two objects that are meaningful to me - an instax camera and a string doll. And my friend and I scanned each other using Scaniverse. Then I edited my models in Meshmixer and made them smoother. Finally, I gathered three models together on Cinema 4D. I printed the final model at the 3D printing lab, turned my selfies into reality.

This doll is a gift from my sister. It represents the artistic inspiration in the nights and conveys my sister's wishes and expectations for me. I really enjoy taking photos and have captured many precious and unforgettable memories between me and my friends using this camera. So these two things are of great significance to me. I hope people can be curious about me and get to know me better.
